It was wrong for Trump to promise to prosecute Hillary Clinton during his campaign. I wrote endlessly about his leading the chants of "lock her up". It was not a promise that any candidate could fulfill as President since it was always up to the Department of Justice and the DOJ/FBI Director declared that there would be no prosecution of Hillary Clinton. This was simply one more phoney issue to achieve victory.
Now, as President-elect, Trump again has taken it upon himself to decide who does or does not get prosecuted for a possible act.
The remaining outstanding question is how Trump has formulated the position of Attorney General in the person of his nominee, Jefferson Beauregard Sessions. Is there a mutual agreement in the standard independence expected of the USAG?
We will continue to see other evidence of this theme - phoney issues to achieve victory that will haunt until Trump leaves office, if he ever actually survives to take the oath.
My prediction is that he will take the oath, nominate a supreme Court Associate Justice and then - one way or another - leave the Office of the President.
